Zhu  Zhengming

Although Zhu Zhengming’s works are single paintings, if her works are examined as a system, there is clearly an invisible ‘time’ trial. Each of her works implies compounding overlapping rhymes, and reincarnation, which boils down to the succession of generations in time, that is, ‘back and forth, successive transitions, opening, and closing, positive changes’ (Weng Fangzang). While the residency of the image is temporary, the charm of the painting is everlasting. The actions, costumes, props, and objects of dependence of her figures are a mixture of poetry, myth, yoga, alchemy, and memory. These are all symbolic elements with archetypal markings, which she does with simplicity and simplicity that seems bizarre, seemingly a thoughtful testament to Zhu Zhengming’s paintings, which carry with them the flow of a living scripture, ultimately transformed into a kind of textual corporeality.
