Artworks of Fei Yining

Artworks of Pu Yingwei

Artworks of Zhang Ji

Hive artists Fei Yining, Pu Yingwei and Zhang Ji were invited to participate in the Song Art Museum’s annual exhibition: “The Disconnected Generation: Digital Color, Networking, Fashion consumption, sci-fi Prose and Global Identity of the Post-90s”. Fei Yining’s creative media include animation, video, sculpture and so on. Centering on experimental texts, she tries to explore the possible alternative living conditions in the post-human era by combining unreal and real through deductive narration. Pu Yingwei creatively inherited and developed the visual and ideological context of the socialist fine arts and the early Chinese avant-garde art, drew nourishment from the two cultural propositions of the revolutionary art and ideological propaganda, and formed his unique language system and historical perspective. Zhang Ji’s painting motivation comes from his extremely personal interpretation of personal physiology and natural phenomena. Through a painting method similar to summoning and divination, some indescribable feelings are summoned in the way of painting. This process can be understood as both a painting behavior and the propagation and proliferation of energy.

The Disconnected Generation exhibition is curated by curator Cui Cancan. “Post-90s” refers to young artists born around 1990. This exhibition is a review and summary of this generation. For the first time, it attempts to comprehensively examine an irreversible cultural shift in China by means of group exhibition, interview and publication. The exhibition focuses on the influence of the new century’s electronic color, Internet, fashion consumption, sci-fi prose and global identity environment on this generation. It shows that they have come to the end of the past artistic tradition, and a new era is fully opened here. The emergence of the “Fractured generation” marked a major turning point for Chinese contemporary art.

DAKINI

| The SHOPHOUSE, Hong Kong, China
| Zhang Ji
|2022/8/21~2022/10/22

Zhang Ji’s solo exhibition “Dakini” at The SHOPHOUSE in Hong Kong describes a viewing/possession experience, an intensely personal and intimate experience that uses a randomly ambiguous narrative approach: Take some daily phrases as works and compare them with the previous lines (introducing the skygoer/Dakini Dakini metaphor energy) to suggest an implicit mental state that parasitizes /combines with the imaginary mother/androgyne.
“Every time the formula is recited; Emotion is mobilized once, the idea is completed a wheel, engraved in space and time will not be embers; The holes in the skin of the body also breathe and breathe, and keep moving as warm as the tide, and the darkness under the skin sings the melody of life itself.” (Zhang Ji)

Tian Mu’s practice involves painting, sculpture, video, installation, and other media. Through the exploration of materials and production techniques, he explores the limits of man and the material world, as well as personal spiritual feelings. The artist’s works break the stereotypical thinking of materials and their associated impressions, and re-endows materials with new properties and definitions, to coincide with the fluidity and openness of space in concept.

Fang Yuan Solo Exhibition

|Prince & Wooster, NYC, America
|Fang Yuan
|2022/9~2022/10

Artist Fang Yuan held her latest solo exhibition at Prince & Wooster in New York. Fang Yuan’s painting practice began with a kind of self-detachment from the external environment. Her works embody the search for the concept of eternity, the illusion between the endless and the so-called earth. She allows different levels of space to blend with each other, constructing impossible Spaces layered in parallel, gazing at how ambiguous forms in three dimensions are rendered on a flat surface, and the interweaving of relationships that are invisible but clearly exist and cling to each other.
